What Login Means Here
Logging in with Alpari gives you access to a web-based Personal Area where you manage deposits, withdrawals, and account details. From there, you launch MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 on your desktop or phone to place trades. The web account and the trading terminal are separate tools, but one login connects both.
Alpari accepts NGN deposits through local bank transfers via First Bank, GTBank, and Zenith Bank, with no added commission. Processing typically takes around 24 hours.
Funding Your Account
| Account Type | Min Deposit | Spreads From | Commission | Platforms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Micro | USD 30 (~NGN 1,000) | 1.5 pips | None | MT4 only |
| Standard | USD 100 (~NGN 20,000) | 0.3 pips | None | MT4, MT5 |
| ECN | USD 300 | 0.1 pips | Yes | MT4, MT5 |
| Pro ECN | USD 500 | 0.0 pips | ~USD 2.50/lot/side | MT4, MT5 |
A starting trader with a small budget might pick Micro because the barrier is so low. A trader moving serious volume would look at Pro ECN, where the raw spread is zero but a commission applies.
Regulatory Position
Alpari operates in Nigeria under the MISA license from Comoros, an offshore jurisdiction. It is not registered with the Nigerian SEC. Under the Investments and Securities Act 2026, platforms soliciting Nigerian residents fall under SEC jurisdiction and should be registered. Alpari is not on that register.
The SEC does not oversee Alpari's Nigerian operations, and leverage up to 1:3000 carries real risk. A 0.03% move against a position at maximum leverage wipes out the margin. Traders in the EU are capped at 1:30 for this reason.
Tax and Risk Exposure
The tax framework in Nigeria changed effective 1 January 2026, with the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) now collecting taxes. Trading profits are taxable and must be self-declared. The progressive bands start at 0% on the first NGN 800,000, moving to 15% on income up to NGN 3 million, and up to 25% above NGN 50 million.
There is also no negative balance protection mandate in Nigeria. If a market gaps and your account goes below zero, you may owe the broker.
Costs Compared to Alternatives
The Standard account at from 0.3 pips is competitive, while the Pro ECN account at 0.0 pips plus USD 2.50 per lot per side matches what most global ECN brokers charge. Some competitors advertise commission-free pricing, but they typically widen the spread to compensate.
Alpari offers NGN base-currency accounts, avoiding the double conversion cost for domestic deposits.
Practical Steps to Log In
Go to the Alpari website and click the login button at the top right. Enter your email and password, then verify with the two-factor authentication code if you have set this up.
From the Personal Area, create a trading account under your profile. You will choose an account type (Micro, Standard, ECN, or Pro ECN), the base currency (NGN for local convenience), and the platform (MT4 or MT5). Once created, the account credentials appear on screen, and you use those to log into MetaTrader.
| Login Step | What You Need |
|---|---|
| 1. Visit alpari.org | Click "Login" top right |
| 2. Enter credentials | Email + password |
| 3. 2FA verification | Code from authenticator app or email |
| 4. Create trading account | Choose type, currency, platform |
| 5. Launch MT4/MT5 | Use the trading account number and password |
Security is straightforward: use a strong password, enable two-factor authentication, and avoid logging in on shared devices. Keep backup codes for your authenticator somewhere safe.
What You Can Trade
Alpari lists more than 750 instruments including forex pairs, metals, indices, commodities, share CFDs, and crypto CFDs.
The main trading hours for Nigerian traders align with the European session peak, roughly 14:00 to 17:00 WAT when London and New York markets overlap.
Reasonable if low barriers matter
Alpari carries a contradiction: a broker with a long track record since 1998 and NGN integration, but an offshore Tier-3 license with no SEC Nigeria protection.
Reasonable if you want low minimum funding, local naira rails, and a brand that has survived multiple market cycles. The tight spreads and broad instrument list make it a workable vehicle for an active trader who understands leverage risk and accepts the regulatory reality. The NGN base currency accounts and commission-free local bank transfer are genuinely useful for Nigeria-based traders.
Unreasonable if you expect domestic regulatory protection, or if you need swap-free Islamic accounts. The review could not verify a dedicated Islamic/swap-free account, which matters if you trade according to Sharia principles, and that is worth confirming at signup. For traders who prioritise Tier-1 regulation under FCA, CySEC, or ASIC, the offshore status of this serving entity would be a dealbreaker. In that case, a more strictly regulated international broker would match your requirements better, even if it means less convenient naira funding.
Questions
What happens if I forget my Alpari password?
Use the "Forgot password" link on the login page. Alpari sends a reset link to your registered email. The reset itself takes a couple of minutes; the email can take a few more if your provider filters it into spam.
Why is my MT4 not accepting my Alpari login?
Make sure you are entering the trading account number, not your email. The email login works for the web Personal Area; MetaTrader uses the separate account number and investor password generated when you created the trading account.
Can I log in from both my phone and computer at the same time?
Yes. The same Alpari login works across devices. You can run MT4 on a desktop and check positions on the mobile app. There is no concurrent session limit that we could find in the broker terms.
